The thyroid gland and the pituitary gland in multiple ways act like a heater and a thermostat. The thermostat reads the temperature and turns on the heater when the heater is off and it becomes cold. When the heat rises to an appropriate level, it is sensed by the thermostat and the heater is turned off. Thus, the thyroid gland and the pituitary gland, works like a heater and thermostat, turning on and off.
