Folliculometry Test with Affordable Cost in Kolkata – Accuhealth Diagnostics

The USG Follicular Study test is an imaging procedure. This test uses ultrasound to create an image of the uterus and the ovaries. The size of any active follicles present within the ovaries is determined by the follicular scan. An active follicle in the ovary maximizes the chances of the egg meeting the sperm.

Follicular study and follicular monitoring are done in order to study the ovarian follicles. This study is mainly done to identify ovulation of the eggs. The ovulation period is an important period for couples who are actively planning to start a family. The study helps to assess how the female reproductive system is performing. This study is used to detect lesions or abnormal structures in the ovaries or uterus. This study is also done to guide in-vitro fertilization or assisted reproduction.

USG is a safe and non-invasive procedure as an USG test does not use ionizing radiation and has no known harmful effects.

    Why Is Follicular Monitoring Necessary?

Follicular scans are usually recommended to:

    • study the number of follicles
    • observe the changes in the uterine lining
    • determine the ovulation period so that the intercourse process or the IUI process or the IVF procedure can be timed accordingly
    • understand whether the dosage of any fertility drugs given is appropriate or if the drug needs to be changed
    • identify any growth related problems of follicles
    • The process can also help identify ovulation problems.

Women with PCOS who have irregular cycles and those above 35 years who’ve been trying to conceive for six months are also advised to have follicular scans.

Preparation, Procedure & Evaluation Of a Folliculometry Test

The follicular scan is carried out on the second day of menstruation. One should take a bath first and wear comfortable clothes that support the execution of the scan. Unless instructed by the doctor, no diet restrictions need to be followed for the scan. You need to ensure to take any medicines before you come for the scan if your doctor has instructed for the same. He will advise you to empty the bladder post where the scan will be initiated. Until ovulation happens, the scan will be repeated after every other day.

The folliculometry scan will be carried out in an examination room that is slightly dark. Folliculometry is a pretty simple procedure. You will be asked to lie down on your back with your knees bent on a special bed for this test. You will need to undress down from your waist & you will be covered by a sheet. A rod-shaped sterile, lubricated, electronic device called the transducer is then gently inserted into your vagina to look at the uterus and ovaries. Depending on the ease of the patient, the folliculometry test might take up to 15 minutes.

The scan is performed transvaginally. This procedure gives much clearer images and a full bladder is not required. The scan will evaluate the size, shape, and condition of the following organs:

    • uterus/womb
    • the lining of the womb/endometrium
    • both ovaries
    • pelvic area/adnexa

The follicle tracking ultrasound scan counts the number of each follicle in millimeters and measures the maximum diameter.

If you are looking for a folliculometry test at an affordable price in Kolkata, you can come to AccuHealth for a superior quality service.
